Public Funding

Farrell Matthews and Weir undertake a wide variety of work for clients who may be eligible for public funding (formerly legal aid). Eligibility for Public Funding is dependent on your circumstances. We will quickly assess if you are able to apply for legal aid (subject to status) and make the relevant applications on your behalf.

Private Clients

At your initial appointment you will be advised how our fees are calculated and provided with detailed guidance on our duty to provide you with an estimated cost at the start of your legal process. We have a continuing duty to provide ongoing costs information to you throughout your case. There are two types of fees: firstly, our costs which is the charge raised for the time spent directly on your case, secondly, the charge for ‘disbursements’ which are associated fees incurred on your behalf such as barristers fees, Court fees, Land Registry searches, medical reports etc. Your authority will be obtained prior to incurring these costs.

Payment Methods

We accept Payments in cash, cheque or by using the following credit and debit cards: Maestro, Solo, Mastercard, Visa Credit, UK Visa Debit, UK Visa Electron, and JCB. Please note that a credit card fee will be added to your bill for all card transactions using Mastercard, Visa Credit, JCB and Maestro non-domestic cards.  Please contact your solicitor for details of this fee.

We also accept payment via direct bank transfer. Further information is available from your solicitor.
